Besiktas vice president Metin Albayrak has spoken to Turkish TV Channel TRT Spor about the latest developments at the club.
During the interview, Albayrak was asked about former Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun who signed for Everton last month, and he confirmed he’s been in regular contact with the player since his move to Goodison Park: “Cenk Tosun is like our son. We really love him. We are speaking with him. I hope he will adapt and show his qualities.”
Albayrak went on to say he didn’t want to speak about Tosun returning to Besiktas as they could hamper his progress at Everton: “It’s easy to say the door is always open. But I don’t think it’ll help him right now. He’s going through a difficult spell, but I am sure he’ll prove himself.”
Tosun signed for Everton at the start of the last transfer window for a transfer record for a player from the Turkish Super Lig, and he showed promise in his debut against Tottenham Hotspur.
In recent weeks the Turkey international has seen himself watching from the sidelines, with Oumar Niasse being Sam Allardyce’s preferred choice.
The Turkey international had the chance to get off the mark in last weekend’s clash between Watford and Everton, but couldn’t convert in the dying seconds of the game from close range.
