So, after days of apparent dilly-dallying, we appear to have a timeframe of when Nikola Milenkovic can be expected to be a West Ham United player.
That’s thanks to Corriere dello Sport, who were one of the few stating a fee had not yet been agreed, but they now believe that it is.
They explain ‘a meeting point is being found at €16m’ with a potential extra €1m in bonuses, but the bottom line is: ‘we are really there and the contacts between the parties yesterday were positive’.
This ‘allows us to set a deadline at this point’, which is that ‘by the end of the week, it is reasonable to expect that Milenkovic will be a West Ham player after the usual medical examinations’.
The completion of the deal will then allow Fiorentina to pull the trigger on the operation to bring in his replacement, who is expected to be Matija Nastasic from Schalke 04.
This is echoed by Corriere Fiorentino, who go as far as saying Milenkovic’s exit to West Ham ‘isn’t even a matter of discussion anymore’, meaning they consider it as good as done.
