If there’s one player who truly exemplifies the work Brendan Rodgers has put in place at Leicester City, it’s Youri Tielemans.
The Belgian midfielder has become the latest hero at King Power Stadium, with his thunderbolt ensuring the club walked away with the FA Cup this season, and his performances throughout the campaign were nothing short of great.
That has led to talk of him potentially leaving, either this summer or down the line, but firstly, there’s the Euros to play for.
Belgium are one of the favourites for the tournament, such is the level of talent at Roberto Martínez’s disposal, and Tielemans could be key to them winning the whole thing.
He’s not really thinking about his near future right now, but does have some ideas of what he wants to do in a number of years, and that’s to play for Anderlecht once more.
Speaking to Le Soir, relayed by Anderlecht Online, he said: “Yes, I do hope to come back one day. It’s not excluded and it would be really beautiful, but I’d like to point out this isn’t a promise”.
Considering where Anderlecht are right now and the level Tielemans is playing at, we are talking the latter years of his career rather than anything soon.
That’s why he can’t plan, because no one really knows what can happen right around the corner.
