Portuguese outlet O Jogo today features a story saying Sporting are working on the final details to sign Pedro Porro from Manchester City on a permanent deal.
Following the successful loan spell the Spaniard had with the Lions, the club should be soon triggering the €8.5m buying option to keep him in their squad.
To conclude the agreement, Sporting are now negotiating the salary he’ll have in his new contract.
It’s now likely he’ll earn €750k per season on a deal of ‘at least’ four years.
Now the most interesting thing about this story is that, according to O Jogo, Real Madrid made contact to know about a potential move.
It isn’t clear if the La Liga giants would be interested in signing Porro directly from Manchester City or if they’d wait for Sporting to trigger the option and get him from the Lisbon side.
In the first possibility, the buying clause should protect the Lions.
The loan from the Citizens was actually for two years, and one of the reasons why they’re triggering it in this first season is because they want to avoid the interest from other clubs.
Now in case Real Madrid try to sign Porro from Sporting, then there’s no doubt the Portuguese club could make a big profit in a short time.
