While Arsenal’s need for another attacking midfielder is questionable, the uncertainty over the future of both Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez means the club looking at potential alternatives shouldn’t be completely dismissed.
The German playmaker, for example, recently told Marca a return to Real Madrid was a possibility, while the former Barcelona forward’s refusal to sign a new deal has led to Chilean journalists ‘lying’ about Manchester City interest, at least according to Pep Guardiola.
Diario Gol on Monday published an article on their website looking at the future of Real Madrid’s 24-year-old attacking midfielder Isco, who started off as a bit part player under Zinedine Zidane this season.
However, changes happened, and the player is now finding form under the Frenchman, even playing 66 minutes in El Clasico at the weekend.
Diario Gol say that despite Florentino Pérez deciding he would accept €40m bids for Isco last summer, Zidane wanted to keep him, and a contract renewal could even be on the cards now.
The Spanish website claim the player’s entourage are using three offers they have received from the Premier League, including one from Arsenal, to pressure Real Madrid is offering the new deal, as he could earn double what Real Madrid are currently paying him there.
Isco himself is said to have told Zidane about the offers, and while the manager hopes the club decide to offer the Spaniard a renewal, the attacking midfielder is ‘uncertain’ due to the ‘tempting nature’ of the Premier League money.
