Long linked with clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City and Tottenham, Tanguy Ndombele could exit Lyon this summer.

Prepared to let one (two maximum) star player(s) go every major transfer window, Jean-Michel Aulas has previously hinted the France international might be allowed to leave in the coming months if the right offer comes along.

And, if Foot Mercato are to be believed over the weekend, Real Madrid might have overtaken everyone in the race to sign the Lyon midfielder.

According to the French website, a ‘very positive’ meeting took place between the La Liga club and Ndombele’s entourage last week, seen as the opportunity to get the ball rolling on a potential deal and to know the player’s intentions going forward.

The interest in the 22-year-old stems primarily from Zinedine Zidane, who appreciates the player and could be looking at him in case a move for Paul Pogba doesn’t materialise.

Real Madrid are expected to undergo a hefty remodelling in the summer, with changes likely taking place from top to bottom, including some added depth in midfield, as Luka Modric heads towards his 34th birthday with just one year left on his current deal.

Even if the Croatian stays, Ndombele would certainly inject some more energy to the Casemiro-Toni Kroos-Modric triangle the Santiago Bernabeu faithful have been used to for some time now.
