Since Tomás Esteves joined Reading on a loan from Porto last summer, he’s always made it clear that his main goal would be to return to his club in Portugal.

With 28 appearances for the Royals this season, he’s been completing his main objective in England, which is to get the experience and playing time he couldn’t have with the Dragons.

Esteves was interviewed today by Sport TV, and claimed he’s ready to return to Porto at the end of the season to finally have more chances with the club.

“I think I’m more prepared now than I was when I left. I’m ready to seize the opportunity,” Tomas Esteves told Sport TV (via O Jogo).

Speaking of his time at Reading, the fullback says he’s happy with the experience he’s had at the Championship side so far.

“I managed to integrate well and get more minutes than I had last season.”

He also talked about other ambitions he has for the future.

“The initial dream is to assert myself at FC Porto, to be a reference in my heart club. In terms of my career… I want to be at the highest level for many years. I know it requires work and effort, but I’m able to do it.”

The Portuguese media never even mentioned the hypothesis of him staying at Reading, so it should be no surprise to see him back with the Dragons for next season.
