As Sporting don’t give up on signing Tiago Ilori from Reading, the negotiations for the Portuguese defender continue.
Newspaper Record brings a story this Friday saying the Royals are still in talks with the Lions only because the player is really keen on making the move.
The transfer is currently being blocked by manager José Gomes, who doesn’t have an option in the squad to replace Ilori, and will need a new player before releasing him.
That’s why, according to Record, Reading have already started looking for ‘opportunities’ in the January transfer market and are working to make everyone happy.
Reading reportedly paid €3m to sign Ilori, and now demand the same amount from Sporting.
The first bid, which was of €1.5m, has been rejected, but the Lions hope there will be a discount in the demands.
Meanwhile, Sporting don’t expect any problems to find an agreement with the player, who’s ‘making efforts’ to return to his old club.
