Seen as one of the best talents in Manchester United’s academy back in the day, Ravel Morrison’s career didn’t go the way it should have.
Off the pitch issues marred what could have been a promising career, and despite being given a number of opportunities by various clubs around the world, the now 26-year-old isn’t where he probably should be.
That being said, his latest move, which has now been confirmed by the player himself, is being labelled as a big deal in Sweden, where the former Manchester United starlet is on the verge of signing for Ostersunds FK.
Speaking to Aftonbladet, Morrison explained his goals in Sweden are to ‘win the cup and make sure we get top-three in the league’.
He added: “I’m looking to rebuild myself. This season I haven’t had any playing time at all in Lazio – just trained with the team – so now I need matches.”
Still technically contracted to Lazio, the ex-Red Devil has only been training this season, but that hasn’t stopped Ostersunds FK from taking a gamble on him, helped by their technical director, David Webb, who knows all about the playmaker.
While the move has yet to be made official, everyone appears to be confident the deal will go through, and Morrison already sees himself as a member of the Swedish club.
As for any future problems, the club believe they have the right set up to keep Morrison out of trouble, and if they can do that, they reckon they have ‘one of the best players in the Allsvenskan’ at their disposal.
Only time will tell, but could this be the move that helps Morrison rebuild his career? Let’s hope for football’s sake it is, because, as David Webb explained: “I was in Southampton when our youth team played Manchester United, and I barely even noticed Pogba and Lingard were on the pitch.
“Ravel Morrison ruled everything. He could really dominate a match, his technique and understanding of games were absolutely incredible.”
Football can always do with that kind of player.
