Earlier today we covered an article from A Bola about Wolves interest in Gedson Fernandes.
The young midfielder is enjoying a breakthrough season at Benfica, and the Portuguese newspaper believe Wolves want to sign him.
He’d be a potential replacement for Ruben Neves, and would cost around €40m despite having a €120m clause.
A Bola also state ‘Raul Jimenez can help’, explaining how the good relationship between Wolves and Benfica would be an advantage for the Premier League club.
Not only that, but it’s thought the Mexican striker doing well could convince Wolves they can ‘get lucky again’ on another signing from the Lisbon club.
Benfica have been left delighted with Jimenez’s form in England. They’d longed hoped to get around €40m for the player and at times that seemed almost farcical.
Even when he moved to Wolves on loan, the likelihood of them using the €38m clause wasn’t high for most Portuguese football onlookers. Raul Jimenez himself, and his own performances, has changed everything.
So just as Wolves would be happy to keep the striker, Benfica will be thrilled with the money.
That all makes the relationship all the better. Those close ties and the clear good feeling could be crucial in a deal for Gedson.
