Manchester United duo Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho are better players than Chelsea target Rafael Leao.
That’s the latest controversial opinion from Antonio Cassano, who believes the AC Milan man is nothing special compared to the duo at Manchester United.
Leao has been in fine form for Milan since arriving in a £26.55m deal from Lille in the summer of 2019.
He took some time to establish himself with the Serie A side but is now considered a key player, bagging 14 goals and registering 12 assists as they won the title last season.
He’s carried that form into this campaign with four goals and seven assists in nine games so far after a summer in which he was heavily linked with a move away.
Several clubs in Europe were all thought to be keen on him, particularly Chelsea, who were eyeing him as their new main man up front and willing to pay big to secure his signature.
Milan held out, demanding as much as €100m for their star man, a figure that is only going to keep rising if his current performances continues.
That, though, seemingly hasn’t put off Chelsea, with reports making it clear they are ready to return in January.
Cassano, though, can’t see the fuss and believes there are two players at Manchester United who are better than him.
“But what phenomenon! He is not a player who makes a difference, he has the c… on his head. Rashford and Sancho are stronger,” Gazzetta dello Sport report him saying.
“He may be the best in our league, but Serie A is the fifth league in Europe.
“He makes the difference with Empoli, Fiorentina and Bologna, but in the Champions League it’s a different matter. For me he can be on the bench for Coman or Luis Diaz.”
Meanwhile, at Manchester United, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho have combined for six goals and two assists under Erik ten Hag.
