Former Rangers manager Dick Advocaat has admitted he hopes to see his former side win in the Europa League this evening so compatriot Giovanni van Bronckhorst can ‘push me out of the books’.
Rangers take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League final in Seville this evening after a superb run that has seen them beat the likes of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
They, therefore, head into the final full of confidence but will come up against a Frankfurt side who are also full of belief in their own abilities.
The German side have also had a superb run to the final, famously knocking out Barcelona before also seeing off West Ham in the semi-finals.
Advocaat is hoping to see that happen but more out of his allegiance to compatriot Van Bronckhorst than his former employers at Ibrox.
“I really hope he beats Eintracht Frankfurt,” Soccer News report him saying.
“Reaching the final is already beautiful. But if he can give Rangers, with whom I as a former coach also have a very good feeling, that prize, then he can’t break everything there.
“That he would push me out of the books is no problem. He just deserves that if he wins.”
