Belgium’s Walfoot reports Rangers’ offer for Kemar Roofe is only a loan deal with an option to buy the forward next summer.
Walfoot take claims from their own information, as well as from Belgian newspaper HLN, to say that Rangers put forward a deal which would see Roofe move to Glasgow on loan, and then for Steven Gerrard’s club to have a buying option of €6m.
That’s not good enough for Anderlecht, who want a full transfer now so they can fund their own incoming transfers this summer. The insinuation is that swapping from a loan with an option to a straight transfer would go a long way in helping Rangers to secure the player.
Despite the first offer being rejected, it’s still thought the former Leeds United player is edging closer to a transfer, with no other clubs named as potential competitors for Rangers.
Roofe has had a mixed time since moving to Anderlecht, with an injury hampered season seeing him find the back of the net just six times in the league.
