Turkey’s AMK Spor say Trabzonspor are targeting Rangers right-back James Tavernier despite the defender recently signing a new contract for the newly promoted Scottish giants.
Tavernier extended with the Scottish Premier League side in July, to take his stay at Ibroz until 2016, unless someone else comes in.
Trabzonspor sold their right-back Luis Cavanda to Galatasaray, and certainly need a new face here. Tavernier’s contract extension couldn’t stop Trabzonspor to reignite interest, with would surely make Rangers harder to deal with.
The 25 year old English defender is one of the key players in Mark Warburton’s team. The Newcastle United academy graduate played 36 games last season and scored 10 goals.
Right footed Tavernier can play both as a full back and central defender, adding strength to a squad, but Rangers will surely be keen to keep the player in Glasgow.
