Yesterday, we showed how Pedro Caixinha’s arrival at Cruz Azul would create some other rumours regarding the two Mexican players he brought to Rangers when taking charge this year.
Gullit Pena and Eduardo Herrera were both requested by the manager, and now that he’s moving to Mexico, the local media has started wondering if they would go back with him.
But it seems it’s no more than speculation. Record, the biggest sports newspaper in Mexico, has a big story about Gullit Pena today, and don’t write a word about a Cruz Azul move.
All they do is report how well the player did last night for Graeme Murty in the match against Aberdeen, which Rangers won 3-0, with the Mexican midfielder scoring one of the goals.
Record are celebrating the player’s comeback after all the time he stayed out of the team, and saying that with only seven minutes played, Eduardo Herrera couldn’t have ‘the same luck as his compatriot’.
The rumours about a Cruz Azul move should be put to bed at least for now, especially because Rangers would certainly not sell both players just six months after their arrival.
So let’s wait for Caixinha to be officialy appointed first, then we can let more rumours begin.
