Often seen as a league where European footballers go to retire, the MLS is starting to prove many wrong as they keep on helping young talent develop before their big move across the Atlantic.
One of the latest to be linked with a transfer to these shores is James Sands, currently under contract at New York City FC, whose future could be in Scotland with Rangers.
The news comes from TuttoMercatoWeb, who claim that following the injury sustained by Filip Helander, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have targeted the 21-year-old ‘jewel’ to help at the back, with a loan move touted.
It’s said Rangers have a ‘strong’ interest in Sands, who is described as ‘one of the first and most important products of the NYCFC youth sector’.
Already counting seven caps to his name for the USA, the Ibrox linked player is also a mainstay at his club, where he played 31 times in all competitions this season.
