Rangers are eyeing up a move for Koln midfielder Salih Özcan, with his contract set to expire this summer.

That’s according to Kicker, who say Steven Gerrard’s Rangers have the 23-year-old ‘in their sights’ this summer.

The newspaper explains that Özcan’s contract is set to expire this summer, and so he is viewing the U21 European Championships as an ‘ideal stage’ to put himself at the centre of attention.

That’s because his future ‘is still unclear’ as he would like to prove himself in the top flight next season and wants a move to that accord.

At least one ‘well known European club’ are ready to offer that to him, with Rangers putting his name ‘on the list’.

Kicker say that after winning the title this year, the Scottish Premiership champions are expecting bids from the Premier League, and if they were to lose any quality in midfield, Özcan is a possible replacement.

Rangers are said to have already asked about the player ‘and the guy’ in Cologne ahead of a possible move.

They would only make that move if there was a need for additions in midfield, but Özcan has the chance to show himself at the Euros and perhaps change that thinking.
