Rangers can focus on strengthening their squad after appointing Russell Martin as the new man in charge at Ibrox last week.

KVC Westerlo’s Matija Frigan has ended up on Rangers’ transfer agenda for this summer.

That’s according to 24 Sata, who state Rangers are among the clubs keen on signing the striker.

He joined the Belgian club from HNK Rijeka in July 2023 and has only been a regular in his second season. Frigan has starred this season, scoring 14 goals and registering four assists from 41 games.

The 22-year-old’s impressive performances have attracted interest from Hamburger SV. They are joined by Rangers and an unnamed La Liga club and these clubs are expected to fight for his signature.

Frigan’s contract lasts until 2028, but 24 Sata claim he’s likely to change clubs this summer.

Over at Voetbal Krant, they have a report on the German club and Rangers’ interest in the frontman.

Hamburger SV have held advanced discussions to secure the Croatian’s services but now face competition from Rangers.

Russell Martin’s side are showing ‘a lot of interest’ in Frigan and ‘want to quickly hijack the deal’ from Hamburger SV. There isn’t anything to indicate the Scottish club will be successful in their efforts.

His current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €5m, which is €500,000 less than what Westerlo paid for him in 2023. The report states the Belgian club is looking to collect €10m from Frigan’s sale this summer.
