Promised a bright future by scouts and journalists alike, Rıdvan Yılmaz now appears to be leaving Besiktas and signing for Rangers.

The left-back, who will likely help compensate for the departure of Calvin Bassey, is now allegedly on the verge of moving to Ibrox to play under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

This comes courtesy of TNT Spor in Turkey, who report that Besiktas have ‘reached an agreement in principle with the Scottish team’ for the 21-year-old’s transfers.

In exchange for the player’s services, the Süper Lig side ‘will receive €6.5m for the transfer of the young footballer’, as well as a ’20% share of the profit of the next sale’.

This shows that Besiktas know the player is destined for bigger and greater things than Rangers down the line, and expect the Ibrox side to cash in on him after a few seasons.

The transfer of Bassey to Ajax showed that Rangers can certainly create a turnover on talent, like other clubs around the world, receiving him on a free from Leicester and making close to £21m a couple of years later.

The plan for Yılmaz could very well be the same, and it might be something fans will need to get used to going forward.
