Alfredo Morelos was inevitably going to quickly return to the news after Tuesday saw Rangers secure the signings of two strikers.
First they announced Kemar Roofe would be moving to Ibrox from Belgian club Anderlecht, and then it was the turn of Cedric Itten from FC St Gallen in Switzerland.
Morelos has been widely expected to find his way out of Rangers this summer, and it’s been clear for a while that the striker’s agent has been trying to encourage interest for him around European clubs.
FootMercato have published an exclusive on Tuesday evening, which claims French club Lille are considering making another offer for the Colombian. Their first bid of €15m, plus a further €2m in potential bonuses, was rejected by Steven Gerrard’s side, and they’ll need to go higher.
According to the claims, Rangers are being tough and holding out for €20m.
Morelos himself is said to have already agreed personal terms with Lille, and his entourage see the club as a further springboard for his career. Other players, such as Nicolas Pepe and Victor Osimhen, have got themselves huge transfers via a spell at Lille, and that’s attractive to the Rangers star.
