Josip Brekalo’s Fiorentina stint will likely end this summer. Where he ends up is still not known but the Croatian has become surplus to requirements at La Viola and a move to Philippe Clement’s Rangers is a possibility.
Scottish giants Celtic were recently linked with a move for the ex-Wolfsburg man but nothing has materialised on that front, and it’s Rangers who have been linked the most.
TMW have today reported on the 26-year-old’s situation, as he is now out of the Fiorentina project.
Only two clubs are said to be seriously interested in Brekalo right now, and while Celtic don’t get a mention, Rangers are named, and so are newly promoted Serie A side Venezia.
The report states that Rangers will offer Brekalo a chance to play European football, which is something Venezia can’t offer. The player is yet to make a decision but the indication is that the clubs would first have to speak to Fiorentina.
There is no clarity on whether Rangers have initiated any talks with the Florence club yet. They would need to get a move on.
