On Wednesday, we relayed news from Turkey that Galatasaray will make new contact with Rangers over a deal for Rıdvan Yılmaz. It was also stated they are trying to break Philippe Clement’s side in negotiations… a plan which hasn’t worked for them so far.
The Istanbul club are aiming to sign a left-back and a right-back, and the Rangers player is identified as the main target for the former.
That’s according to Fotomaç, who explain that Galatasaray are negotiating with Philippe Clement’s side for the 22-year-old.
It’s said their leaders are ‘trying to persuade’ Rangers to allow the Turkey international to leave Ibrox.
Although the window in Turkey closes later this month, Galatasaray are aiming to close the deal before Friday, which is the last day to submit their squad for the Europa League.
Their idea was to sign the fullback on loan with an option to buy, but this was rejected by Rangers. Fotomaç state The Turkish club are expected to make an improved offer.
Fotospor also state Rangers have rejected the loan offer and the discussions between Galatasaray and Philippe Clement’s side are still ongoing.
Rangers want €4.5m for Yılmaz, either through a sale or loan with a mandatory purchase option, while the Süper Lig side are still in the €2.5-3m region.
Negotiations between the two clubs have become intense. Galatasaray are expected to make an improved offer, by using part of the fee they received from Sacha Boey’s sale to Bayern Munich, to complete the deal for the Rangers man.
