Former Rangers manager and player Stuart McCall believes Celtic will be the favourites to take all three points when they face Rangers at Celtic Park on Saturday. McCall had a brief spell as the manager of Rangers last year, but had more success in his seven seasons as a player at Ibrox.

Speaking to Yorkshire TV, the former Scotland international was asked whether Celtic or Rangers would win the Old Firm clash this weekend.

McCall thinks under new manager Brendan Rodgers you have a different Celtic to the one Rangers faced last season in the cup semi-final, and therefore believes the SPL champions are likely to beat their arch rivals. However, McCall said if Rangers can score the first goal then it will be game on.

“You’ve got a different Celtic under Brendan. Celtic will go into the game as favourites, but if Rangers can score first then it’s game on,” said the ex-Rangers man.

Saturday’s clash is the first time in five years Celtic and Rangers will face each other in the league due to the problems Rangers had with their finances. However, they did meet in the Scottish Cup last season, and Rangers got to the final via penalties.
