Romania manager Mircea Lucescu has told the country’s media that he will help Ianis Hagi get through his situation at Rangers.
The 25-year-old is yet to play for Philippe Clement’s side this season and looks surplus to requirements at Ibrox.
Sport.ro have reported on comments Lucescu made ahead of tomorrow’s Nations League clash with Kosovo. Asked about the Rangers player’s lack of games in this campaign, the Romanian boss said Hagi is going through a difficult spell in his Rangers career, but he believes the player can turn things around with the right support.
“He is going through a difficult moment, we have seen what is happening there, but I am convinced that he will be able to get over this moment. We have to help him,“ said the Romania boss.
Hagi was loaned out to Alaves last season, but since returning to Glasgow he’s found himself frozen out by Clement.
The attacking midfielder was linked with a move this summer, with reports last week that Steaua Bucharest were looking get a last-minute deal over the line. However, a move didn’t materialise and Hagi now finds himself training with Rangers’ reserves.
There’s been some criticism in Romania about him being called up at all, and a belief that it wouldn’t have happened if if his father wasn’t the legend he is.
