Rangers sealed a berth in this season’s Europa League final after overcoming RB Leipzig.
They suffered a 1-0 defeat against the Bundesliga side in first leg of their semi-final in Germany last week. They were able to overcome the deficit in the second leg as Rangers sealed a 3-1 win at the Ibrox on Thursday.
James Tavernier scored in the 18th minute before Glen Kamara made it 2-0 on the night for Rangers six minutes later. Christopher Nkunku’s 71st minute goal meant Leipzig were able to level the aggregate score.
With 10 minutes left, John Lundstram netted the crucial goal of the two-legged tie. That was the difference between the two clubs in the end as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side made it to the Europa League final, where they will face Eintracht Frankfurt on May 18th.
In their match report, Bild have come with ratings for both clubs’ starting XIs. It is worth noting they use the German school grading system, between 1 to 6, where 1 means very good, 2 is good, 3 is average, 4 means passable but still lacking, 5 is deficient and 6 is insufficient.
Leipzig had only two shots on target and were able to convert only one of them. Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor received a rating of 3.
Apart from McGregor, Borna Barišić, who started on the left wing-back, and midfielder Ryan Jack got the same rating.
Jack’s midfield partner, Kamara, got a very good rating of 1, while the rest of the Rangers’ players, Lundstram, Tavernier, Calvin Bassey, Connor Goldson, Ryan Kent, Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent got a ‘good’ rating [2].
Bild have also given Rangers manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst the same [2] rating as the majority of his men.
