Rangers have been linked with Josip Vukovic for a while.

The midfielder moved to Maritimo in the last summer transfer window and has been able to show his talent there, after a mixed career up to that point. At 26 years of age, the footballer is now on his seventh club, and that could soon turn to eighth if reports of interest lead to something more concrete.

On Wednesday, Calciomercato back up interest from Steven Gerrard’s Rangers, along with Aston Villa, and, perhaps surprisingly, say Lazio are also keen.

The Rome club have been looking for a new midfielder since January, and their eyes have moved to the Portuguese market. Lazio could easily afford Calciomercato’s estimated price of €900k-€1m, but then so too could Rangers.

Vukovic is described as a midfielder with ‘great physique and defensive skills combined with good technique’.

Chelsea, Wolves, Villarreal, Benfica and Sporting have all been linked recently, which means either Vukovic is having the season of his life, or an agent is very hard at work.

One for the Scottish Premiership club to keep an eye on.
