Rangers may be about to face big competition to sign David Jurasek from Benfica.

Even though recent reports from Portugal claimed Philippe Clement’s Rangers are interested in signing the fullback, the German press now highlights the chase from Hoffenheim.

Kicker writes that the Bundesliga side could try to sign Jurasek on a loan deal until the end of the season, as they’ve been looking for a left-back ‘for a long time’.

It’s interesting that the story doesn’t mention Rangers or any other clubs who could be competing for the signing, making it sound like Hoffenheim could have a clear path to get him.

It’s no secret that Benfica are open to letting the player go, as they invested €14m on his arrival last summer and can’t find a place for him in the team.

This week, it was said in Portugal that the Eagles could get ‘creative’ when negotiating the player’s exit, with Rangers being named as one of the interested clubs.

Now we shall see if Hoffenheim will come for him and if Rangers will actually make a move to compete for the signing.
