Milliyet report European clubs, including Rangers are showing an interest in Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel, but the Turkish giants are still hoping to convince him to stay in Istanbul.

Skrtel is the past week has again been linked with a reunion with his former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard after reports the Ibrox club have made an offer to the player.

According to the Turkish newspaper, Olympiacos, Rangers and Parma are all interested in signing the centre back. Unnamed clubs from the Premier League and Championship are also said to be following his situation closely.

Rangers are ‘closely watching’ the situation.

The Slovakia international will be a free agent in the coming weeks and contract extension talks with Fenerbahce have reportedly not progressed.

Rangers have been linked with a move for Skrtel since last summer, although it was claimed last week the Fenerbahce player has rejected the Scottish Premiership club’s first offer.

The defender has been a regular for Fenerbahce this season and he’s been one of the pluses in a disastrous season for the Yellow Canaries.
