According to a claim in the Turkish media Fenerbahce defender Martin Skrtel will snub a move to China.

The Slovakia international has been linked with Rangers in recent weeks and a possible reunion with his former Liverpool teammate Steven Gerrard.

Turkiye report Skrtel isn’t interested in playing in China even though he’s been offered €5m a season to play in the Chinese Super League.

However, it’s also reported Fenerbahce could still look to sell the player for €3m, which will only come as a boost to Rangers.

In the past week there have been reports in the Turkish press that Rangers have tabled an offer for Skrtel. The Scottish Premiership side will lose David Bates to Hamburg on a free transfer next month and Gerrard may look to bring in a central defender to fill the void, especially with Bruno Alves turning 37 this year.

It’s believed Fenerbahce will consider the bid from Rangers and they could be willing to sell because of Skrtel’s age and current salary.
