Rangers have made ‘approaches’ to Saint Etienne forward Denis Bouanga as he gears up to leave the French side this summer.
That’s according to Le 10 Sport, who cover the situation around the player today and a potential move to the USA.
According to their information, Bouanga is ‘close to leaving’ Saint Etienne and the hottest prospect for him is Los Angeles FC in MLS, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers potentially missing out.
The Gabon international has not closed the door to the MLS project so far but their offer of €3.5m has been ‘deemed insufficient’ by ASSE, who are hoping for €5m.
That deal could be closed in the next few hours as that’s when the American market shuts but Bouanga is keeping an eye on other opportunities in France and Europe.
Lille have long been looking at him but Le 10 Sport say they’ve dropped out of the race for now. Another French side could move in the next few days, though.
Elsewhere, several German sides have also been ‘monitoring’ Bouanga and there have also been ‘approaches’ from Anderlecht, Club Brugge and Rangers. None of them have ‘found their target’ according to the website.
What that means isn’t made clear but they do insist there has been no ‘concrete offer’ from any of the interested parties as yet.
Thus, Rangers are simply among the interested parties at this point. Bouanga, though, is set to depart Saint Etienne at some point, it’s just where that remains to be seen.
