Look, we’re not saying Mauro Icardi to Manchester United needs to be a thing, because it doesn’t considering the Red Devils already have Romelu Lukaku up front, but Corriere dello Sport really want it to be one.

They’re the ones who kickstarted it all off by saying Mino Raiola had presented the Argentinian an offer from José Mourinho’s side, all in a bid to leave his current agent (his wife) and get him to become his client.

This all comes amid negotiations between Inter and Icardi regarding a new contract before the summer, and Corriere continue to mention Manchester United as one of the interested clubs.

They do make it clear, however, that this appears to all be Raiola’s doing, but, if a transfer to Old Trafford were to take place in the summer, it would probably happen for around €150-160m.

That would follow Raiola’s big 2016 Manchester United transfer, Paul Pogba, and his 2017 edition, Romelu Lukaku.

That’s the amount Corriere reckon Icardi’s next release clause will be, as Inter won’t manage to convince Wanda Nara (his wife) to get rid of it altogether.

On top of that, he’s said to be wanting a pay rise, from €5m to €8m/year, but the Serie A club don’t want to go above €7m/year (around £120k/week).

Our gut feeling is that if Inter fail to make the Champions League, he’ll move at the end of the season, even with his new contract.

Whether that means he’ll go to Manchester United remains to be seen, but it does seem unlikely, especially with the likes of Real Madrid needing a new number nine.

And they’re not getting Harry Kane, let’s be honest.
