Aston Villa are juggling Premier League football with the Champions League this season and that always presents a new consistency challenge.
They haven’t won once in their last six games across all competitions and were held to a draw by Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Aston Villa take on Juventus in their next game in the Champions League and it will be a vital contest for both teams.
There is some buzz in Italy about the game and Rafael Benitez has spoken to Gazzetta dello Sport about the clash.
He highlighted the situation at Villa Park, also stating that Juventus’ defence can be key to the result.
“There are contrasting technical and statistical data, which lead to confidence. Thiago Motta is unbeaten in the league, therefore he has defensive consistency even without Bremer. In Europe it is better, but the factor this time becomes Vlahovic.
“And then, Aston Villa is certainly not experiencing a moment of great enthusiasm, struggling to win and also to reiterate what they did at the beginning of the season.”
Juve will come into the game at Aston Villa on the back of a compact 0-0 draw against AC Milan despite the fact that their squad is suffering from a raft of injuries.
Dusan Vlahovic is likely to miss the clash at Villa Park and both Juan Cabal and Bremer are out due to long-term injuries.
Even though that will encourage Unai Emery’s side, Juve are still tough to beat and have kept the most clean sheets (10) in Serie A this season.
It will not be a surprise if Thiago Motta’s side take a pragmatic route to stifle the Villains.
