Newcastle United are very interested in signing Joselu from Stoke City this summer, according to the most recent of claims. It’s a new track for the Stoke owned player, who had previously only really been of interest to mid table Spanish clubs.
The chase was first reported by the English media, and Marca later confirmed the claims on line, saying they’d been able to back the information up. The Spanish newspaper on Saturday also have a small snippet in their newspaper, but it says enough.
Rafael Benitez is the man pushing for a transfer, and he’s picked out Joselu as a ‘priority’ signing. The player himself is keen on such a transfer, and the idea of moving to Newcastle United ‘seduces’ him.
Signed by Stoke City from Hannover 96 for €8m two seasons ago, Joselu only made 27 appearances for the club, and scored four goals. He spent last season on loan at Deportivo La Coruña, scoring the same amount.
Fans of the Spanish club weren’t thrilled when the club signed Joselu, annoyed about his past with rivals Celta Vigo, and things never really took off, with injuries playing their part.
Marca don’t mention how much Stoke City will demand for the player, but they’d almost certainly be pleased to see Joselu leave on a permanent basis.
