Everton boss Rafa Benitez is considering a ‘sensational’ move for Alexis Sanchez as he looks to bolster his squad in the January transfer market.
That’s according to Inter Live, who say the Blues are already working out a potential deal to put on the table for the Italian champions.
Sanchez is having a hard time of things at Inter at this moment in time, having fallen out of favour under new manager Simone Inzaghi.
He’s aired his frustrations publicly on several occasions, and that has naturally led to speculation that he will on his way in the January transfer window.
And according to Inter Live, Everton are keen but have thought up an ‘absurd’ swap deal to try and tempt the Serie A side.
According to them, Benitez wants Sanchez but is only willing to offer a swap deal to get him, with Cenk Tosun the man who would be going the other way.
The Turkish international is not wanted at Everton now or in the future and so swapping him for Sanchez would be an ideal situation.
Except, Inter Milan aren’t particularly keen on the deal. They’re not that interested in Tosun as it is and would actually prefer to ‘cash in’ on Sanchez if they can.
Thus it seems this potential deal is dead before it even gets going, although it was surely never a thing to start with.
Everton aren’t averse to bad transfer decisions but making a move for an ageing and extremely waned Alexis Sanchez would be right at the top of the pile, and we’d like to think Benitez and Marcel Brands are not that stupid.
