It seems that Andrea Radrizzani’s plans to focus on life in Italy with Sampdoria post Leeds United may not be going as smoothly as he would have hoped.
That’s at least according to Il Secolo XIX, relayed by Club Doria 46, who say the Italian owner ‘seems a little further away’ from Sampdoria after taking over the club following his departure from Leeds.
The newspaper explains that at the moment, Matteo Manfredi is taking on an increasingly central role at the Italian club.
The CEO of Gestio Capital follows the team closely and is looking for foreign partners, especially from Asia and the United States. He’s taking on an increasingly bigger role and, as a result, Radrizzani is ‘moving away.’
The former Leeds owner appears, at least by choice, to be distancing himself from the Italian side despite having taken them over ‘with great enthusiasm’.
He’s not been seen near the team since September 24th and there is a growing belief he could look to sell on his shares if given the opportunity to do so.
That departure could be linked to a potential arrival of QSI, Qatar’s Wealth Fund which owns Paris Saint-Germain.
They appear to be interested in joining Sampdoria, largely thanks to the excellent relationship between Radrizzani and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi but would want to do so as a majority shareholder rather than a minority one.
Thus, they would take the former Leeds United owner’s shares, leaving him to part ways, presumably with a healthy profit, as was the case at Elland Road.
