Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has hit out after he received criticism for making himself unavailable for Chile’s latest international matches.

Bravo pulled out of the Chile selection for the matches against Paraguay and Bolivia, citing personal reasons. The footballer has just moved from Barcelona to Manchester City, and it may well be that he wants time to settle his family into their new life.

Even great recent success hasn’t made everyone in Chile understanding, and the backlash, however small, has clearly angered Bravo, who took to Twitter.

“Each day our society is more sick.

“Those who speak most are those who have delivered least to the country. They serve only to criticise and destroy. They don’t forget to make a joke of Chile.”

Bravo then rounded it all off by posting two images of himself winning the Copa America, twice, and said: “What a shame for some that the story is already written. And you that talk too much, what have you brought to the country?”

That’s everyone told then.
