Sam Allardyce is a big fan of Steven N’Zonzi, and has made that clear on more than one occasion.

The now Everton manager worked with the midfielder at Blackburn Rovers, has revealed he considered trying to call up the Frenchman for England, and has stated he’d like the player at Goodison Park.

Transfer links during the January window were plenty, and a few days ago we covered claims from Spain that N’Zonzi is increasingly looking like his Sevilla days are numbered.

Following Sevilla’s embarrassing 5-0 defeat to Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final, N’Zonzi was pictured in a Madrid nightclub, which didn’t go down well at all.

Now a picture has emerged of him enjoying drinks on a sunny terrace, which has just wound people up more, cover Mundo Deportivo.

Sevilla were beaten by Levante on Saturday in a match which N’Zonzi wasn’t called up for. Mundo Deportivo say the official reason is an injury, but they sound doubtful, as do Estadio Deportivo, who pointed out he’d been training normally all week.

Vincenzo Montella has since got the sack, and all signs point to an N’Zonzi exit as well.

But should Everton race in head first without considering all the issues N’Zonzi had has in Spain? Allardyce knows the player, which would help, but whilst it could be a brilliant signing there’s certainly reason to be at least a little concerned.
