Loaned to Marseille for the season from Arsenal, William Saliba is thoroughly enjoying himself in the south of France.

Thriving under Jorge Sampaoli, the young centre-back has already caught the eye with his performances, with many wondering why on earth Mikel Arteta allowed to let him leave when he appears to be at a level to at least help the Gunners from time to time.

There have been rumours that Saliba could be recalled in January, but that appears to be just that, a rumour, according to Julien Maynard, a journalist for TF1.

Taking to Twitter, he claimed, a return to the Emirates for Saliba is ‘out of the question’, and the 20-year-old ‘will remain’ in Marseille ‘until at least the end of the season’.

Loaned without an option to buy, it was always expected for the player to head back to Arsenal once this season came to a close, but it appears any talk of it being cut short can be dismissed, such is the defender’s importance in Sampaoli’s plans at the moment.
