Carlo Ancelotti was at Everton for 18 months before leaving the Merseyside club for Real Madrid back in June.
In his only summer transfer window with the Toffees in 2020, the Italian played a vital role in helping the Premier League side sign two of his former players; Allan and James Rodríguez.
The Colombia international arrived at Goodison Park on a free transfer and had an instant impact at Everton.
He struggled with multiple injuries during the course of last season, but still managed six goals and nine assists across all competitions.
Everton replaced Ancelotti with Rafael Benítez and the 30-year-old was told he was not included in the Spaniard’s plans this season. Having failed to find a club in Europe in the last window, Rodríguez joined Qatari side Al-Rayyan in September.
Ancelotti appeared as a guest on ESPN Fútbol Colombia and Faustino Asprilla asked Los Blancos manager whether Rodríguez made the right transfer choice when leaving Everton and moving to the Middle East.
Responding to that, relayed by Gol Caracol, Ancelotti said: “What a question! I don’t know. I think the important thing for him is to play, that he is well and that he can show his quality.”
The South American has had a mixed start to his life in Qatar and was given his marching orders in Al-Rayyan’s 2-1 defeat to Al-Arabis SC.
