Following Juventus’ nine league titles in a row, the Italian media is now glad to see things changing a little with Inter Milan being crowned champions at the weekend.
More than the coverage of the Nerazzurri’s great campaign, the local press has also been analysing the potential signings who could strengthen Inter’s squad for the upcoming season.
So Sky Italia had a chat with Massimo Moratti, the former Inter Milan president who was in charge of the club at the time they won the treble back in 2010. And when speaking of transfers, he suggested the arrival of Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.
“He’s a player who has all the qualities to give Inter even more strength. I remember when we took on Sneijder: we had a very strong team, but a player who sped up the game put us in a position to have an exceptional team,” Moratti told Sky (via Tutto Mercato Web).
“I think Kante would have the same effect, although I don’t want to push in this direction because it would be difficult. I speak as a fan.”
Sneijder joined Inter Milan in a €15m move from Real Madrid in 2009. The Nerazzurri had four Serie A titles in a row back then, and his arrival was one of the factors which made that side strong enough to win the treble in the 2009-10 season, with the club being the only Italian side to achieve it to this day.
Kante, however, has a contract with Chelsea running until 2023, and we wonder if Thomas Tuchel would accept to lose him in the manager’s first summer in charge of the Blues.
