Heavily hinted as being on the verge of a transfer to Lokomotiv Moscow by the Russian side’s Twitter account on deadline day, Steven Caulker is still, for now, a QPR player.

Enjoying teasing their fans with pictures of the player with his face covered and taking videos of his former teammate Vedran Corluka Skyping him on his time off, Lokomotiv have now confirmed their interest in the QPR defender via their chairman.

Speaking to TASS in Russia, Ilya Gerkus said: “We are still working on Steven Caulker’s transfer. The deal with Queens Park Ranger is negotiated and signed. We are still discussing the details of a future agreement with the player.”

Travelling to London on Friday, the Lokomotiv chairman met with Caulker and labeled the meeting as ‘very positive’, describing the QPR player as ‘a great guy, a great professional and an ambitious athlete’.

With the Russian transfer deadline on the 28th of February, Lokomotiv Moscow have time on their side to convince the player to leave Loftus Road in the coming three weeks.

TASS understand the deal would be a loan with a right to buy the player, but first they need to agree with Caulker on a contract.

One to keep an eye on in coming days.
