Queens Park Rangers have been working on appointing a new permanent manager after putting Martí Cifuentes on gardening leave.

On June 3rd, we covered claims from Denmark that QPR showed great interest in Randers FC manager Rasmus Bertelsen. A day later, the Danish club’s football director, Søren Pedersen, said his side are ready to negotiate his exit.

Bertelsen won’t be joining the London club because they have made advances to appoint Julien Stéphan as their new manager.

That’s according to French journalist Marc Mechenoua, and he took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to report that QPR have reached a ‘total agreement’ with 44-year-old.

Stéphan has been without a club since leaving Stade Rennais in November. Mechenoua  now reports he will sign a two-year contract with the Championship club.

The Frenchman had two spells with the Ligue 1 club and the first was between December 2018 and March 2021, where he also managed them in both the Champions League and the Europa League.

In his second spell, Stade Rennais played in Europe’s second tier club competition.

Stéphan will start his experience in England in the Championship with QPR, who finished 15th this season.
