Queens Park Rangers have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of OFK forward Saman Ghoddos after the Swedish side last night qualified for the group stages of the Europa League.

QPR have been linked with the 23 year old in the past week, with reports the Championship side have tabled a bid for the forward.

Yesterday we covered reports from Sweden that Ghoddos’ future with OFK would be decided after their Europa League playoff against PAOK. If OFK were eliminated from the competition, Swedish newspaper Expressen said this would put doubts on the player’s future at the club.

Trailing 3-1 from the first leg in Greece, OFK had a big task ahead of them to turn the tie around, but secured their place for the next stage with a 2-0 victory. Incidentally the QPR target scored both goals to send OFK into the next round.

QPR will feel they have a chance of signing Ghoddos after Daniel Kinberg, OFK chairman, confirmed last week they could still sell the forward for the right price. QPR have reportedly already tabled a bid of £1.9m for the player, which was rejected by his club.

It’s been claimed QPR will face competition from several clubs to sign Ghoddos.
