Once a well known footballer in the UK, who spent his professional career at Galatasaray, Rangers and Blackburn Rovers, as well as winning 94 caps for the Turkish national team, Tugay Kerimoğlu is now a pundit in Turkey.
He’s repeatedly on shows in the country and has now shared some information he claims he has regarding a Manchester City transfer.
Covering business Galatasaray will do in the current window and ahead of the summer, Tugay Kerimoğlu insisted the club are very close to agreeing an arrival for a Manchester City player… likely with an eye towards the close season window.
The man in question is İlkay Gündoğan, and the pundit is quoted by Fanatik as saying: “I don’t like selling people dreams, but 85-90% is İlkay Gündoğan. It’s not clear, 85-90%.”
When then asked about the salary he’d be getting, Tugay Kerimoğlu said: “I don’t know about that.”
Intriguingly, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk was also asked about the move and certainly didn’t want to dampen the claims about signing the Manchester City player.
Fanatik quote him as saying: “Every team wants İlkay Gündoğan. We all know he is a good Galatasaray player. If he wears the Galatasaray jersey one day, it would make everyone happy. He continues at Manchester City. It looks like he will finish the season there.”
Gündoğan’s contract expires in June 2025.
