Used sporadically during the first half of the season, Federico Chiesa is quickly becoming a very important part of Paulo Sousa’s Fiorentina side this season.

The 19-year-old winger has featured in his club’s last nine league games scoring two goals and picking up two assists, including one against AC Milan last week.

One man who appears to be impressed with the youngster’s progress is West Brom’s Tony Pulis, who has allegedly dispatched a scout to watch Chiesa against Torino on Monday night.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Baggies’ representative travelled to Italy this weekend to watch two games: the aforementioned Fiorentina game and Lazio-Udinese.

West Brom’s target in Rome is said to have been Lazio’s Keita Baldé, who failed to impress as Simeone Inzaghi’s men scraped a 1-0 win thanks to a Ciro Immobile penalty.

Moving on from the reported Manchester United target, the scout is now expected to continue his window shopping in Florence, with Chiesa the reported target.

All in all, it seems West Brom are looking for a new winger, and with Keita likely to cost €20m+ if they choose to go for the Senegal international, it’s worth pointing out Chiesa, who renewed his Fiorentina deal in January until 2021, won’t be much cheaper.
