Although both the Spanish and the French media have been bringing daily updates on Neymar’s situation, Paris Saint Germain now try to cool things down a little.
The responsible for that is club director Leonardo, who, in an interview with RMC Sport this Thursday, said the Brazilian star is not that close on leaving the Paris side.
Leonardo was interviewed by Mohamed Bouhafsi, and regarding the talks with other clubs, he’s said: “There are discussions for his future, as you know it, but today there’s nothing advanced”.
The director has spoken about Neymar’s fitness situation, which is allegedly what has been leaving him out of PSG’s games, and claims that the player has not been removed from the squad.
“It’s wrong. He hasn’t been removed from the group. He follows his personalised rehabilitation program. He’s a Paris Saint-Germain player, he’s still in Paris for three years, so do not forget. We must analyse everything, we must fix everything before he can play again.”
Regarding the club fans’ reaction towards the player, Leonardo once again tries to calm things down.
“Neymar made mistakes. You know, I didn’t know him before. As the days go by, I get to know him. And I honestly think he’s a good boy with a very good background. And on the pitch, he’s an amazing player.”
The word in the Spanish, the French and even the Brazilian media is that both Real Madrid and Barcelona are trying to get Neymar on a deal involving a swap of player plus an amount of money. The fact that other stars are involved should make this saga even longer than normal.
However, those comments do sound like Leonardo is trying to prepare Paris Saint-Germain fans for a potential stay.
Still two weeks left of this, folks.
