Yet to make an appearance for AC Milan, Mario Pasalic’s start to his loan spell in Italy has barely gone to plan.

Short of match fitness since the beginning of the season, the Croatian midfielder’s lack of time on the pitch even led to rumours of a premature return to Chelsea, quickly dispelled by his agent.

The reason behind this is Vincenzo Montella’s faith in the youngster, one he sees as an important part of his plans in a long season.

Corriere dello Sport look at what AC Milan could end up doing in January with all their new money, and the Italian newspaper make it clear the Italian manager is still looking within at those who are yet to play due to injuries.

They explain that when asked about the possibility of including Pasalic, a highly rated youngster, in his rejuvenated squad, the topic is always approached ‘with great enthusiasm’.

Of course, that could all change if the player, once back fully fit, doesn’t perform, but, on paper, bringing him into the squad is an exciting prospect for AC Milan.

If his beginning to the season with Monaco last year is anything to go by, there’s a strong chance the young Croatian’s impact could be instantaneous.
