Defender Jordan Beyer is increasingly likely to join Burnley on a permanent basis in the summer as they get closer to securing promotion back to the Premier League.
That’s according to Rheinische Post, who say the player’s ‘tendency is towards the island’ after his loan spell at the club this season.
The young centre-back joined on loan from Borussia Mönchengladbach in the summer as one of numerous new signings who arrived under Vincent Kompany.
He’s established himself as a key player since that point, with a series of impressive performances and adulation from the fanbase, who have nicknamed him BeckenBeyer.
All reports have made it clear that Burnley do not have an option to turn his loan deal into a permanent one but RP now report that isn’t the case.
They say that while he is only at Burnley on loan ‘there are some indications’ that that this is changing and the defender won’t be returning to Borussia.
That’s because a purchase option is ‘anchored’ into his current loan deal. That does not mean he would be ‘automatically gone’ at the end of the season but if Burnley are promoted they would then be able to meet Gladbach’s ‘financial expectations’.
In other words, there is an option if Kompany and co. are promoted, but that option is not automatically activated but promotion would give them the money to do a deal.
