Performing well in the Champions League is always a big deal for players. Even if their clubs don’t get far in the competition, there’s a good chance of getting a move after doing well against important opponents.
That seems to be the case of Porto’s Moussa Marega, who according to Correio da Manhã today, has attracted interest from Premier League sides after his performances against Liverpool.
Correio da Manhã recalls that last summer, the likes of Everton and West Ham were interested in Marega. However, neither of these sides could match Porto’s demands, which were €40m.
The player is said to be keen on leaving the Dragons in case a ‘tempting’ offer arrives, especially if it comes from the Premier League, since that’s a move he’s always dreamed of.
Marega renewed his contract back then, but the €40m price tag continues. The newspaper says this isn’t an amount which would scare off the Premier League sides.
With Everton and West Ham both in need of a striker, especially with Edin Dzeko not looking keen on moving to the Hammers, it sounds like Marega could become a top target for the summer.
The striker has 19 goals and 11 assists for Porto this season, and has been willing to prove himself in the Premier League for a while now.
What the English clubs need is to convince Porto to sell him.
