Converted to a defensive midfielder over the past year or so, it’s easy to forget Boubacar Kamara started off as a centre-back.
Comfortable with the ball in his feet, the Marseille star has moved up the pitch a bit, excelling in the role and becoming one of the key players in a team that has struggled a bit this season.
His performances have caught the eye of a few over the years, and it appears Thomas Tuchel, in search of defensive reinforcements for his Chelsea squad next season, is considering him.
That’s according to Le Phocéen journalist Romain Canuti who, relayed by Le10 Sport, explained the information he’d been given regarding the Blues’ desire to sign Kamara in the near future.
He said: “From the information we have, there’s Chelsea who could position themselves next summer, because it’s a profile that Thomas Tuchel likes a lot. He’s kept his name in the corner of his brain. He could come back. There’s been discussions about it”.
That, to us, sounds like Tuchel, most recently manager at Paris Saint-Germain before his move to Stamford Bridge, was impressed by Kamara during his time in France, and while a switch from the south of France to the capital was entirely off the cards, such is the rivalry between the two sides, that isn’t the case with London.
After all, it’s a road the likes of Didier Drogba, César Azpilicueta and, more recently, Michy Batshuayi have all undertaken, and we could potentially add another to the list in the coming months if the German gets what he wants.
